Office Manager. We are looking for a bright, take-charge person to serve as our office manager. We rely on this person to maintain the record keeping systems that enable us to keep our organization running smoothly, and to develop new systems as necessary. This person also investigates sources for products and services, follows up with existing vendors and makes sure that our client contracts are kept current and updated.

Areas of responsibility include: business correspondence, employee records, filing systems, office supplies, timekeeping, invoicing, bill-paying, monthly statements, and light phone reception. This person is also a de facto member of our customer support team.

This position requires 20-25 hours per week. The choice of hours is flexible, but we would prefer a steady schedule.

Minimum Requirements: This person should be self-motivated, a clear thinker and an independent worker. Our office manager must have excellent Windows computer skills, with especially good facility in Excel. He or she should be able to learn new software quickly and easily. Accounting experience is preferred. Although we require a person of keen intelligence, there is a fair amount of routine task work, plus occasional trips to the bank, post office and other local errands. Use of a reliable vehicle is required.

Salary: Pay will depend on your level of experience. We offer some benefits, which can be discussed as part of your overall compensation package.

Our Company: Highpoint, Inc. is a 30-year-old publishing services company, which now specializes in website and web applications development. Our key clients include professional societies and associations, publishers, cities and public agencies.

We are located in Claremont, California, a college town at the foot of Mt. Baldy in the San Gabriel Mountains, about 40 miles east of Los Angeles. We are directly opposite the Metrolink station, which offers commuter rail service to Los Angeles and San Bernardino.

Selected applicants will be asked to take some standardized tests, which measure English language skills, business writing ability, attention to detail and problem solving ability. Those who do well on the qualifying tests will be called back for interviews. Finalists will be asked to take a hands-on test in Excel, which will test your ability to create spreadsheets in order to solve real-world problems.
